I have made the bade of the sculpture thinker to make it look more like stone.
I added some extra layers to the base using foamboard which I glued on with PVA glue. This is a very useful material which I usually employ to make walls for sfx makup moulds. A wall is created using foamboard and hot glue aroudn the sculpture. Silicone is then poured in to make a mould of the sculpture. The board can be cut up easily, but is just the right thickness and strength to provide a solid enough surface for a prop or sculpture. Glueing the layers of foamboard togather still left gaps which did not look very stone like. These I filled in with milliput. This project will be a test of how far I can push this sculpting putty. It is supposed to be used for filling in gaps in small kits and model soldiers. It is not supposed to be used in large batches like this, but I think some acrylic will be enough to seal it on.
