Perspective is something I am sort of half good at. The trick with this drawing is to show the rocks getting smaller and smaller as they recede into the distance.
Another thing I’m working on is those gaps between the large stones. I created the gaps so that we can better see the shadow underneath them. This means filling the gaps with smaller stones. This does somewhat undermine the delicate sense that the sizes of the stones are receding into the distance. It will be particularly important to this drawing because I want to get a sense of wonder at the thought of travelling further. Each feature of the landscape – the statue, the hut, the mountains – must all convey the steps of a potential journey.
