I am sculpting a new figurine for the Stalls From The Crypt Halloween Market on 27th July. I must make sure to stir the resin once it is in the mold. I think this reduces the possibility of air bubbles forming on the surface and disfiguring the miniature.
The cardboard used in warhammer boxes is exactly what I need for these molds. Its just thin enough not to leave a line down the middle of the sculpture. You can glue the cardboard to the foamboard using a glue gun, but it can save glue to simply use chavant clay.
When building the sides I will try to apply the foamboard diagonally in line with the cats back. This will save silicone. Make sure to mix the silicone thoroughly. If you don’t it wont set properly and just stay runny without ever being able to hold a shape.
In regards to paint, I think I will paint the legs and ears black. I will do the majority of the body in a sort of creamy off white.
After your finishes make sure to save the cardboard and foamboard as it can easily be used again.
