A latex mask without a mould

I am creating a new latex horror mask. Unlike the other ones I have made, this one does not use sculpting with clay or a mould. Normally I would sculpt the face onto the base head, pour plaster onto it, thus making a mould of the sculpture, remove the mould, extract any clay stuck in the mould, and then plant the latec onto that. This is how the detail is captured. With this project it is just latex placed on a headbust with some cotton wool to provide shape. This inevitably means it is less detailed, but it is quicker, and I will be interested to see how well I can do. What materials can I used to create detail in a fraction of the time it normally takes to make one of these masks.

The difficulty here is creating the detail which normally the mold would provide. The cotton will hopefully provide the appearance of the folds of skin. Another thing I added was a few quinoa seeds to give the impression of pimples. I could also try and use the cotton to create the horizonatal lines on the lips. But this would be a very fiddly job. I think there must be a simpler and more reliable way.
