Great News! I recently joined the Dark Art Movement. This is an agency for artists who specialize in horror artwork. Its just what I have been looking for. The fact that there are artists out there who share my style and interests is very encouraging. Up until now I had felt maybe I was creating something in a very small niche that only very few people would be interested in. Would anyone really want a drawing of a nightmare clown on their wall. Well as it turns out, they would. Artworks by this group have been known to sell for up to $10,000. This proving ground for dark artists was founded in 2009. They are based in London but represent artists from all over the world.

The movement works with art galleries in the UK, Canada, New York and Australia to help artists like me get noticed. Because of studying this website, I engaged with artists I had not appreciated before, such as Hieronymus Bosch, Pieter Bruegel, Bouguereau, Caravaggio, Théodore Géricault, Francisco Goya, Salvator Rosa, and Henry Fuseli. I stepped out of my comfort zone and explored the work of 18th century artists, surrealists and modernists. Surrealism in particular is something I had not liked up until now. Thanks to this movement, I experimented with bizarre forms and otherworldly creatures. On the other hand my work always has always used fantastical concepts. But I was encouraged to give my work a more dreamlike quality as opposed to something with order and internal consistency. The really exciting thing is that artists who are part of this movement have their work featured in publications in America.
