Perspective and the Russian Coat

I decided to make the statue further away. This will hopefully give the sense of the huge expanse the character is looking out on. This may create problems with detail. I might not be able to achieve the stone veins as I was with the closer statue. Another concern is the outline of the traveler which will become harder to see as I add the background of small stones. The hairs of the coat in particular could become indistinguishable from the tiny pebbles of the beach. I will try adding a darker outline.  I want to really take my time with this drawing. If things don’t look right, I want to start again, even if this means redesigning half of it.
