Almost Done
I continued my drawing of Leighton Buzzard Market Cross.
I have been following the original artwork too closely. I was starting to draw that artwork in every detail whether it was any good or not. The basic requirement is that this drawing is recognizable as the Market Cross. To make it better I will have to come up with my own ideas. Already there are some details which are made up. I am sure the three arches in the bottom left, partially obscured by the steps, never existed in Leighton Buzzard in the 19th century. An important aspect of my work is drawing realistically whilst still have creative freedom. I want it to be life like. I want to portray every detail as realistically as possible. But where is the point where you take the realistic drawing methods, and apply them to something entirely from your imagination.
Once I have finished the pencil drawing I will rub it out a little to prevent the pencil from showing through the paint. Next I will apply the water colors. I must however make sure all the details are established in pencil before applying any paint. This will ensure that I know where to apply the paint. I have found water colors difficult to alter in the past. The pencil will be a guide so that I am not constantly having to correct things.
