I don’t know whether to declare this drawing finished. All I know is that I want to create more mushroom art like this. I will sell a print of it at Leighton Buzzard Market on 22nd June. It is based on the poisonous mushroom, Amanita Muscaria. I needed something that wasn’t horror as such but still fitted in with the gothic aesthetic I wanted for my business. Mushrooms are weird without being too creepy. But there was another aspect aswell. I wanted to do something that felt like it belonged in a fairy tale. With work like that you can make it spooky but also keep a joyful charming aspect to it. An art print of this drawing will make a great piece of mushroom art. It is the perfect combination of the bizarre and the beautiful.
